For the first time in the Republic of Moldova: the first social houses were put into operation in Orhei.
A reason for joy for the first four young families in Orhei who received the houses, the Mayor of Orhei, Ilan Shor, handed them the keys to their own homes, built under the social housing program, implemented in record time.
The project "Social housing" was launched in September this year, at the initiative of the Mayor of Orhei, Ilan Shor.
According to the project, for the first time for the Republic of Moldova, the beneficiaries of the program will pay for 35 years a symbolic rate of only 500 lei for housing, without interest.
This project is intended for civil servants, young families and workers in the budgetary sector.
In this respect, Orhei City Hall has developed and approved a regulation on which applications are filed and social housing is granted.
The first four beneficiaries of the project, who received the keys from their own homes, are workers in the budgetary sector, namely: a kindergarten teacher, a medical assistant, a worker of the Orhei District Council and a worker of Orhei City Hall.
Moreover, besides the key to the apartment, the inhabitants also received a gift from Ilan Shor – a TV.
The emotions shared by the four families were indescribable. They thanked the Mayor and the team who made great efforts to implement this project, unprecedented for both Orhei and the Republic of Moldova.
" We are very happy to have this opportunity.
The house is the most important thing for any young family. Most young people go abroad for the simple reason that they cannot secure their lives even with a house.” mentioned Igor Cernei, IT specialist at Orhei City Hall.
Tatiana Turta, educator at kindergarten no. 8 from Orhei: "A lot of thanks to the Mayor Ilan Shor for implementing this project that helps each of us, young families, have a dream to become reality, to have our own home. Until now, I lived with my mother-in-law in a 36-square-meter apartment, it was very hard"
Through this project, Ilan Shor aims to support low-income families and, in particular, to motivate young specialists working in the Orhei budget sector.
“The purpose of this project is to motivate our citizens not to leave Orhei because of the lack of a home. We want young specialists working in the budgetary sector to be able to have access to an affordable housing, paying only 500 lei per month and to remain in their homeland, in Orhei”, specified the Mayor.
According to the Mayor Ilan Shor, in 2018, the construction of another 40 social apartments is planned.
“In the next year, 40 apartments will be in operation, and in the coming years will be more”, declared the Mayor.
Construction works were initiated on a land of over 6 thousand square meters, located in the “Nordic” district of Orhei.
The 42 square meters apartments have a hall, a living room, a bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom.
Moreover, each family has a separate entrance, as well as a private courtyard with a land of 260 square meters, and if necessary and at their own decision, the owners have the possibility to extend the residential area of their homes.
According to the action plan, social housing construction works will be intensified, so that around 40 social apartments will be built annually.
We mention that Orhei is currently an example city in the Republic of Moldova in the implementation of social projects, including the provision of affordable housing for young families and budget workers.
