According to the action plan of Orhei City Hall on the modernization of the street lighting system, in January, the first stage of installation and connection of special LED lighting devices, meant to illuminate the sidewalks of the city was completed.
This project was realized thanks to the increase of the City Hall budget, the money being allocated from the municipal budget.
At this stage, LED devices are installed on 19 central streets, the total number of lanterns exceeding the number of 250 pieces.
According to the Mayor, Ilan Shor, it has been decided to install LED lamps because they are more efficient, the period of operation is longer, and the maintenance costs are much lower and less polluting.
Also, according to the project, by April, the second stage of pedestrian walkway lighting will be completed on the other city streets, where more than 300 of such lighting devices are planned to be installed and connected.
The modernization of the street lighting system was carried out according to the street lighting plan of Orhei.
On this occasion, the mayor of city, Ilan Shor, declared for journalists: “We started installing the sidewalks’ lighting – special LED lamps were already installed, which were oriented to the sidewalks, in order to not illuminate only the streets, but also the pedestrian walkways. Now, our pedestrian streets, for all our inhabitants and visitors, are brighter, more accessible and safer. Today, Orhei, as a whole, is one step closer to the civilized cities, to the standards we all aspire to. I am proud that our city, Orhei, is long ahead at this chapter, compared to other cities in the country.
It should be noted that the restoration of street lighting in Orhei was one of the first large-scale projects implemented by Ilan Shor immediately after the elections. More than 2,300 LED lamps have been installed in the framework of this project. Currently, Orhei is one of the brightest cities in the country.
For two years, since Ilan Shor became the Mayor of Orhei, Orhei municipality has become a leader in the implementation of large-scale infrastructural, social and cultural projects. It is recognized by both local and foreign experts as the most dynamically developed city in the Republic of Moldova.
