The start of the Orhei winter holidays was given in an unusual way: the city turned into a story where the fever of the winter holidays was brought after Santa Claus lit the lights with his magic wand.
The happiest were the children, who were given gifts from "the best grandparents".
And until the lights were lit, the Orhei inhabitants, together with the local authorities headed by Mayor Ilan Shor, marched on the main street of the city, in the midst of a Santa Claus parade, led by a giant Santa Claus of four meters. The most unusual was the Santa who came riding on an impressive two-wheeled racing car.
On this occasion, the mayor of Orhei, Ilan Shor, spoke to the people, saying that he would do everything possible this year for Orhei to offer the most beautiful winter holidays to the inhabitants, but also to its guests. "This summer, Orhei received the title of summer capital of the country. Now we become the winter capital of the Republic of Moldova" said Ilan Shor, assuring that he will make every effort to build not only Orhei, but the Republic of Moldova in general, and turn it into a country where everyone wants to live.
The holiday continued with a concert, where thousands of townspeople enjoyed their favorite songs. Among those who delighted the audience and created the atmosphere of celebration were the boys from Brio Sonores, Doinita Gherman and others.
Similar to every year, the Christmas tree was installed in the center of the city. The Christmas tree has a height of 24 meters and is decorated with garlands and new installations, created especially for Orhei. This year, the Christmas Tree was also adorned with new toys.
Also here was inaugurated a fairytale town with beloved heroes and characters, photo areas, figurines, as well as other decorations on the theme of winter holidays .
The fairytale town around the Christmas tree was decorated with tens of kilometers of light installations and thousands of multicolored bulbs. Seven new figurines have been brought, which will be bring joy to the little ones that come to admire the most beautiful Christmas tree in the country. The Santa Claus car, the bear and the snowman are just some of the figurines that adorn Orhei's center and lure children to take pictures with their parents. Many of those present at the event took pictures alongside the one who organized the holiday - Ilan Shor.
The entrance to Vasile Lupu Square, where the Christmas Tree is located, is also unusual. Here, an enormous gift box has been improvised, next to which, visitors can also take pictures.
Vasile Lupu Street has been adorned with light installations and holiday decorative elements. The city center is covered with a dome of lights, which gives the spirit and the fever of the winter holidays.
For the first time, this year, 16 sectors of Orhei were decorated in the style of winter holidays.
Just like every year, Orhei city astonishes locals and guests through the decor and quality of the events organized during the winter holidays and has become a fairytale town ready to compete with other European cities.
The statistical data show that during the winter holidays, the city of Orhei is visited by tens of thousands of people from all corners of the country, but also from abroad.
The decision to install an artificial tree comes from the Mayor Ilan Shor, who three years ago gave it as a gift to save the living trees.
Last year, the Christmas Tree in Orhei reached the top of the most beautiful Christmas trees around the world. Ukrainian Photographic Portal LB.ua has published a selection of Christmas trees in the world that adorn the main markets and streets of the cities. Thus, the Orhei tree competed alongside the big cities of the world such as Kiev, London, Berlin, Budapest, Rome, Vilnius, Vatican, Prague, Gouda, Athens, Hong Kong, Warsaw, Paris, Beirut, Yangon as well as other cities.
