The first representative office of Orhei city was opened abroad. It was opened within the Program “My home is Moldova” initiated by the Mayor of Orhei, the leader of the SHOR Party, Ilan SHOR. The program provides assistance regarding relocation and employment in the country of origin of Moldovan citizens working in Italy.
Th representatives of the European Parliament who represent the most influential group - the European People's Party - Fulvio Martusciello and Elisabetta Gardini, the head of the Italian delegation of the European People's Party in the European Parliament - attended the opening ceremony of the representative office of Orhei.
The representatives of the European Parliament highly praised Ilan SHOR's initiative to open a Moldovan representation in Italy, given the number of Moldovan citizens living in this country and expressed their readiness to support this initiative. They expressed their admiration for the comprehensive development of Orhei, transforming it into a European city. Elisabetta Gardini, one of the most prominent figures in the European People's Party, said she intends to visit Orheiand danced with pleasure a Moldovan hora.
Among high-ranking guests of the ceremony, we can mention the member of the Italian Senate, the chairman of the Moldova-Italy Interparliamentary Friendship Association - Fabrizio Di Stefano. According to him, the opening of the representation of Orhei in Bologna is an extremely important step worthy of all possible support. Also, the unprecedented and exceptional timeliness of this initiative by Ilan Shor was noted. Already this desire to return compatriots to their homeland, providing them with work, funds for development, tax breaks and other conditions for a decent life, singles out Shor from among other Moldovan politicians.
At the opening of the representative office participated also representatives of the City Hall of Bologna – the member of the Municipal Council Marco Lisei and the municipal councilor responsible for international relations, the official representative of the mayor of Bologna at this event, Marco Lombardo. According to them, the project of Ilan Shor will be provided with assistance from Bologna municipality. Official representatives of the Italian city also spoke for the need to develop cooperation between Bologna and Orhei.
In her speech, the Vice Chairman of the SHOR Party, Marina Tauber, stressed that the idea of the project arose as a result of an analysis of the threatening demographic situation in the Republic of Moldova. According to her, the dynamics of the departure of fellow citizens abroad causes genuine anxiety, and in order to change it, extraordinary measures are needed. So far - at the level of Orhei, where for the last two years, since the election of the mayor of Ilan Shor, there have been significant changes for the better, including the opening of new work places. “The office that we are opening will inform you about the vacancies that are in Orhei, about the salaries that they will be guaranteed, about those positive changes that are taking place in their hometown” said Marina Tauber.
Also, Marina Tauber noted that this initiative, like other initiatives of the Shor Party, is first tested in Orhei, and then will be extended to the whole country.
By means of an organized video connection, the mayor of Orhei, the leader of the Shor Party, Ilan Shor addressed the audience. He warmly welcomed the countrymen gathered in Bologna. He stressed that many politicians in Moldova are trying to use the Moldovan Diaspora for political purposes. His idea is diametrically opposite: “Use us! Use our willingness and desire to give you every support, without demanding anything in return. Use our desire to bring you back to your homeland, provide you with work in Moldova, create acceptable conditions for a normal, full life” said Ilan Shor.
The mayor of Orhei stressed that the representation in Bologna can be used by Moldovan citizens as a place of meetings and communication.
At the initiative of the leader of the Shor Party, supported by the public organization “PentruOrhei”, the municipal council of the city decided to release the returning citizens from paying all local fees. In addition, not only stable work will be guaranteed to all those who will return, but also a special one-off payment from Ilan Shor in the amount of 500 Euros. Those who return to the civil service will be able to rely on social housing, which is already being built in Orhei.
In case of success, the Shor Party intends to initiate at the level of the Parliament the adoption of the National Program for the Return of Compatriots to the Motherland.
